Papamoa School

Papamoa School is a decile 6 school with 600 students who come from a range of socio-economic backgrounds. It currently has a staff of 26 full time teachers (including the Principal), four part time teachers, and 11 support staff. Papamoa School provides a safe, secure learning and teaching environment where children are expected to be well mannered, make positive decisions regarding their learning and behaviour, and play co-operatively in the playground. Student participation is valued in school development and student leaders play an integral role in the decision making process. Community based support networks are fully utilized to enhance programmes and initiatives.
The application by Papamoa School, to become a member of the Safe School Community International Accreditation Programme (SSCIAP) is of a high standard, and provides an effective model for other schools to emulate. The application is also very well presented and easy to follow. It demonstrates an outstanding ongoing commitment to developing and maintaining the safety culture and a safe environment at Papamoa School. It also demonstrates Papamoa Primary School’s readiness to promote their unique i Save the World safety programme to the wider New Zealand public. We congratulate Papamoa School on achieving designation and support its ongoing commitment to SSCIAP.
