Cosgrove School was built in 1957 as a contributing school and now caters for 630 students from Years 1-6, with a decile rating of 2 (Scale 1-10 – 10 being high social economic).   The school community is multi-cultural with several nationalities represented, predominantly New Zealand European (54%) and Maori (45%).  

The application by Cosgrove School to become a member of the Safe School Community International Accreditation Programme (SSCIAP) is of a high standard and is very well presented.  It demonstrates an outstanding commitment to developing and maintaining the safety culture and a safe environment at Cosgrove School School.  The school has a commitment to fostering effective home/school partnerships as the most effective tool in meeting the health, safety and learning needs of their students.

Cosgrove School is the second New Zealand school to be designated a an Safe School. This accreditation is the result of several years of work to improve safety for students & staff. We congratulate Cosgrove School on acheving designation and support its ongoing commitment to SSCIAP.

Cosgrove school submitted their application before the revision of Safe Schools and SSCIAP. Thus their application relects criteria of the time and their re-designation application will reflect the SSCIAP criteria.
