SCFNZ ALAC Alcohol and Community Safety Regional Forums
SCFNZ in conjunction with ALAC in early 2009 held a series of regional forums in selected International Safe Communities from the North Island of New Zealand. These forums were sponsored by NZIPS as part of the new NZIPS implementation plan.
The aim of the forums was to advance or create dialogue to reduce alcohol related harm and to create safer and vibrant communities. At the end of the workshops participants hadthe opportunity to network, plan and go away with a community owned action plan. Forums were held in the following locations:
North Shore (incorporating Waitakere, Rodney and North Shore City)
Plymouth Region (New Plymouth and Stratford)
Wellington Region (Wellington City, Porirua, Lower Hutt, Upper Hutt, and Kapiti Coast)
Bay Of Plenty (Tauranga City, Whakatane, Kawerau, Western Bay of Plenty District Council , Taupo and Rotorua)
Wanganui
To further see what initiatives and work is being done in these communities visit the Safe Communities page or the ALAC website.
